Welcome to the new generation of Sun Odyssey, the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 440. This yacht is the first yacht from the 8th generation of Sun Odyssey models launched in 2017 and focus on 3 key areas
Redefining movement on-board
Full featured interior with an innovative interior design and finish
Perfecting the sailing performance of the yacht
The Sun Odyssey range was launched 27 years ago, with 17,000 yachts built and 48 new models. This new model done in collaboration with Philip Briande
The first thing you will realise about this new generation is the ease of movement on the deck. The large foredeck, raised GRP bulwark and amazing inclined side-decks allowing easy passage from the helm to the forward sections. Also the rigging you will see the vertical shroud on the outer edge of the hull to give the mast maximum stability but placed the diagonal inboard allowing for easy passage to the foredeck.
Have a look at the cockpit table and the cockpit sun-pad, these really do make the yacht stand apart in her class. But it doesn’t stop there on the deck, Jeanneau lowered the gooseneck of the boom to the lowest level to make for easy use of the sails when deploying and retrieving, achieved by using a stronger Vang but also benefits from great sail area.
To perfect the sail experience, the yacht has a large forward section with a full length chine, this provides the yacht with considerable stability, power and volume. Twin rudder, L-Keel and integrated bow-sprit, a cathedral rig setup which lowers the centre of gravity of the rig, increasing stability and the ability to hold sail area into higher wind speeds, lowering the weight of the rig but also maintaining the rigidity – resulting in all round. The shallow forward sections and the increased rig means the new Sun Odyssey 440 have some of the best sail area to displacement ratios on the market today… but thats not even including the performance version!
Below decks the surprises keep on coming. A central galley, full size chart table with lots of new features keeps the new yacht in a class of her own. The forward cabin moves the heads aft allowing for a larger heads and also a fully rectangular berth for onboard comfort.
Using new fabrics and woods thought the yacht gives the yacht a warm feel throughout together with huge amount of natural light provided by the large hull ports and deck hatches.
