Van de Stadt Pionier 10

Poole
  • Length 31ft 10in
  • Type Cruising Yacht
  • Cabins 2
  • Year 1999

Overview

An opportunity to purchase a Pionier 10 (Classic Boat) with only 16 years of sailing and hand fitted-out to a high standard. (Launched in October 1999)

This is a "cruising vessel with winning ways". There would be nothing like a sail to show a would-be buyer what a lovely boat it is to manage even when sailing single handed. It turns on a sixpence, doesn't need muscle, just a loving touch.

Accommodation

Two vee berths without cushions, fiddle lockers above the berths and two lights. There is storage space under the berths, forward and to each side. The loads from the rigging baby stay are taken by a wire strop from the deck-head to the hull between the berths. There is a bi-fold door to separate the fore cabin from the heads, mounted on brass piano hinges and with teak trim around the finger holds.

Walk through heads with a Blakes Lavac toilet (as yet unused) to port and generous hanging locker to starboard. The toilet is mounted on a plinth with the Blakes bronze sea cocks and fresh water foot pump beneath. The toilet is flushed with a Henderson Mk5 pump. Above the toilet is a slide out stainless steel sink with a fold-a-way faucet and separate drain.

Outboard is a locker for stowage of all toiletries. The hanging locker has ample space for all wet weather gear and drainage to the bilges. There is a second bi-fold door to separate the heads from the main saloon.

Settee berths each side with cushions and varnished wooden back supports that hinge up to access storage space outboard. The bunk backs can be folded upward to provide an additional two berths if required.

The saloon table has ample room for four people to sit and enjoy a meal. Chart table will take a folded Admiralty chart on top and many more charts inside. There is a bin locker outboard of the chart table useful for many thinks.

Extends back from the chart table. The two batteries are mounted in a box beneath the quarter berth and have a four position control switch for No 1, No 2, No 1 & 2, and Off.

Mechanical and rigging

The Wortham Blake Engine is the marinised version of the 1600cc Ford Crossflow as used in the Cortina and Escort cars. The engine is serviced annually and runs very sweetly. It fires-up first time after a winter lay-up. Parts and service are available from Sheridan Marine.

But it also has two modern solar panels which trickle charge the batteries during hours of daylight which keeps them fully topped-up at all times via a controller.

The Pionier 10 has a hand laid GRP hull and deck with bonded-in Bruynzeel marine plywood bulkheads and a moulded head lining. The main bulkhead, stiffened with two overhead beams, takes the loads from the mast. The chain plates are through bolted from the deck onto the main bulkhead and the half bulkhead which are fully bonded to the hull with six layers of fibre glass on each face. The cast iron keel was sheathed in fibre glass, secured to the hull on stainless steel studs through fibre glass covered hard wood bearers.

The rudder is mounted on a stainless steel fabrication welded to the solid stainless steel stock, with upper and lower bearings. The tiller is mounted on a keyed taper on the rudder stock.

The main sail has three reefing points but the slab reefing cables are only permanently connected to the first two. To engage the top reefing point the first cable has to be detached and reconnected to the third point. (This has never proved to have been necessary as the second reef has always coped adequately to date.

Halyard winches are mounted on deck at the base of the mast, the reefing winch is on the mast and the genoa sheet winches and spinnaker sheet winches are in the cockpit. Altogether 6 Lewmar winches and one Gibb winch.

Various fenders, warps and mooring lines including stand for holding mooring lines on pontoon finger when out of berth, together with a boat hook.

Webasto 2000 diesel air heater mounted in starboard stern locker with its own tank, for feeding hot air into the main cabin, Corus Tiller Pilot TP300cx with 12v socket in the cockpit,
