The Sun Fast 30 One Design is a one-design class for multi-day offshore racing. It’s priced to be within reach of amateurs, built in France, fully equipped for racing and easy to maintain. There is a busy calendar of international races planned for the class.
The three partners in the project each brought their own expertise. It uses the latest infusion-moulded construction for strength and stiffness at low weight, and the slightly rounded, scow-inspired bow is meant to give lively handling at any speed. The autopilot and electronics are chosen for double-handed and even single-handed offshore racing.
It’s also the first production sailboat built from a recyclable composite material. Durability criteria from the class rules, along with equipment chosen and designed for intensive offshore use, make it a step towards more environmentally responsible sailing.
