Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 24.2
The Sun Odyssey 24.2 is a former Jeanneau model, a 7.3 m Fauroux design built in France and suited to couples or small families wanting simple, easy sailing.
The Sun Odyssey 24.2 is a previous Jeanneau model, no longer built, that followed in the footsteps of the Tonic, one of the best-selling boats in the world. She was designed by Fauroux and built in France, and you'll find her in a centreboard version or with a fixed keel, with either an inboard or an outboard engine.
She's 7.3 m overall, with a hull length of 7.2 m and a draught of 1.1 m, and she's rated for up to 4 people. Being easy to launch makes her a sensible choice if you plan to trail her or keep her ashore.
The cockpit is generous and well protected, and you can step straight through to the swim platform at the stern. Everything about her is set up for straightforward sailing rather than fuss.
Below, there's a proper double berth, two forward berths, a practical galley and a washroom with a toilet. Fresh water capacity is 56 l. The forward hatch lets you see what's ahead and brings plenty of daylight into the cabin, which shows off the teak joinery.
Jeanneau pitched her as the biggest boat you could get on a smaller budget, and for a compact yacht she gives you a good amount of space to live aboard for a weekend.
