Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 40 DS
A previous-model Jeanneau deck saloon cruiser designed by Daniel Andrieu, with twin wheels and roomy layouts suited to couples and families cruising long distances.
The Sun Odyssey 40 DS is a deck saloon cruiser that Jeanneau no longer builds, designed by Daniel Andrieu around a quick hull. Inside she has a lot of space and volume for her size.
On deck the look is modern, and the aft cockpit has twin helm stations. Twin wheels were an unusual idea on a 40 footer when she came out, and they make the cockpit a comfortable place to steer from and to move around in.
Below, the interior combines teak woodwork with a satin varnish finish. She was offered in 3 layouts. The 2 cabin version has the owner's cabin forward and a large U-shaped galley. The 3 cabin 1 head version has a separate shower area in the head and a large forward cabin, and there was also a 3 cabin 2 head version. All of them were planned with long-range cruising in mind.
She's 12.2 m overall with a hull length of 11.75 m and a draught of 1.5 m. She carries 136 l of fuel and 236 l of fresh water, and is rated for a maximum of 6 people.
