Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 40

Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 40, photo 1 of 1

A Daniel Andrieu design from Jeanneau's previous range, the Sun Odyssey 40 pairs a quick hull with twin wheels and a roomy interior suited to long-range cruising.

The Sun Odyssey 40 is a previous model that Jeanneau no longer builds. She was designed by Daniel Andrieu around a quick hull, and there's a lot of space and volume inside for a boat of her length.

On deck she has a modern look in the Jeanneau tradition. The unusual touch is the pair of helm stations in the aft cockpit, which you don't often find on a 40 footer and which make the cockpit more comfortable to use.

Below, Jeanneau's design office worked from the same general layout as the Sun Odyssey 40DS. The joinery is teak with a satin varnish finish.

She was offered with three interior layouts. The two-cabin version has the owner's cabin forward and a large U-shaped galley. The three-cabin, one-head version has a separate shower area in the head and a large forward cabin, and there was also a three-cabin, two-head arrangement. Jeanneau considered all three well suited to long-range cruising.

She's 12.2 m overall with a hull length of 11.75 m and a draught of 1.5 m. Tanks hold 136 l of fuel and 320 l of fresh water.
